Barometric Condensor
A barometric condenser is a type of jet condenser used in steam power plants to condense exhaust steam from a turbine or engine by direct contact with cooling water. It operates under the principle of creating a vacuum, which increases the efficiency of the steam cycle. The condenser is mounted at a height of approximately 10.3 meters (34 feet) to utilize atmospheric pressure and allow the condensate and cooling water to flow downward by gravity into a hot well, eliminating the need for a condensate extraction pump. This design reduces mechanical complexity and energy consumption. Barometric condensers are commonly used in thermal power stations and various industrial processes where efficient steam condensation is essential.
